Why bother ventilating the roof system?&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>Well put simply,&nbsp; why wouldn't you? The standard construction of vaulted ceiling roofs in the United Kingdom is timber joists with insulation between the joist allowing for ventilation over the insulation.&nbsp; Under the joists there is an insulated plasterboard. We follow this exact method for our roofs. Moisture is generated by warm air meeting cold air, so the cold air of outside and the warm air from inside the property. Our roof will retain a vast portion of the warm air generated from inside the home but ultimately there has to be a meeting point of these two temperatures. This happens above the insulation. The ventilation works like a chimney where air enters though the vents over the fascia board and exits the POD's where it meets hips, ridges, valleys or wall plates.&nbsp;</p><p><br></p><p>This saves the roof from rot adding years to its life.<br></p><p><br></p><p>Icotherm is the only system to have ventilation. So how does this benefit you? The PODs simply put are section of the roof. There are no individual rafters, the only timber supplied in length form is wall plates, eaves, hips (where required) and ridges. This means the roof goes up much quicker than a standard roof. There is no frame work to out up follow by insulation, followed by OSB. Its simply install the pods and put the breather membrane on and boom, your in the dry! Less time on site means a happy home owner and a more profitable build. The PODs are able to accept glass panels or Velux windows.
